XR community lead at TU Delft Virtual Playground
Irina has been involved in tech industry for over 7 years. She has worked as a marketer in mobile apps, ad tech and AR/VR both in IT giants like Mail.Ru Group and ambitious startups. Being a passionate content creator and communicator, now she leads XR community at TU Delft Virtual Playground, connecting business and academy worlds. Irina is also a Scout at VRScout covering VR & AR news and contributes to Hackernoon, Dzone and other media. She was born in Moscow, studied in Madrid, lived in San Francisco, and loves XR for breaking boundaries.
Head of NewMedia Centre, TU Delft
Michel Beerens is a Head of the NewMedia Centre, a media production and expertise centre of the TU Delft. VR/AR productions and experimentations are part of NewMedia services, in the VR Zone and in the green screen studio.
The NewMedia Centre is currently working on the implementation of AR in the green screen studio and starts experimenting with holography for education.

I am an industrial designer and a mechanical engineer and always enthusiastic to take up challenging projects at the intersection of these fields. I have been experimenting with VR to incorporate it in the design process. This technology can help with exploring ideas, prototyping, user testing and other aspects of developing products and services.

Doris works on robotics and automation, cognitive systems and advanced human-machine interfaces like Augmented and Virtual Reality. Her main research interest is to create sustainable employment within the fourth industrial revolution. This is possible if we are able to develop the "Operator 4.0" who is supported by technology so that he or she can enhance the physical, sensing and cognitive abilities.

Daniëlle van Tol
Daniëlle van Tol is a junior researcher at TU Delft. She obtained her Master’s degree Integrated Product Design in 2019 at the TU Delft, and is interested in exploring the use of VR and AR in various contexts. Her current work as a junior researcher focusses on the presentation of information in VR and the use of digital twins.
After graduating from the BSc Industrial Design Engineering, I am now looking for a new challenge to graduate for MSc Integrated Product Design at the TU Delft. My passion is bringing new technologies to the consumer, creating meaningful product experiences for the end-user. I greatly enjoy designing in contexts where multiple disciplines come together. So far, projects I’ve worked on are smart products, wearables, human-computer interaction, branding and more.

Max van Schendel
My name is Max van Schendel, I work at the VR Zone in the library and am also a Msc student of Geomatics at the faculty of architecture. My main interest is in designing augmented and virtual reality applications, both for applied and artistic purposes. In the past I've realized such projects for purposes such as urban design, exhibition design and entertainment using virtual reality.
In my work I combine technical development and design in a broad collection of projects. The common thread in all projects is the use of serious games and gamification: for promotion, education or to engage the public.
Applied Ergonomics and Design – Human Centred Design Department – IDE
When I was working as a designer and a design educator years ago, I dreamed of bringing the user into space where the interaction of design concepts can be vividly experienced even before prototypes are made. This dream becomes my PhD project now. The goal of this study is developing a methodology to apply XR as a design tool to improve the user’s performance and satisfaction. It’s lucky to be a member of the XR community since 2017 when it just started, and I’m amazed to see it growing fast into a cross-disciplinary group full of endeavour, amusement and support. I’m enjoying exploring XR with the community and hope you join the wonderful group too.

Currently, he is employed as a PhD candidate at the TU Delft, focusing on studying possible application(s) of Virtual Reality to Higher Education, in particular in terms of using the medium to enhance collaboration between students.

Jelmer is founder of The Sphere of Sound, a sound & music design company, specialized in creating telepresence and making stories come alive with Spatial Audio techniques. The Sphere of Sound is designing audio for VR applications in the e-Health, Education, VR Training and Entertainment Industries, to create heightened levels of immersion. Jelmer is also one of the partners of VRelax, a scientific proven virtual reality app that helps people to reduce their stress level and improve their mood. His goal is to help VR applications gaining more value with the power of sound.
PhD-Candidate at the Department of Transport & Planning
Yan Feng is a PhD-Candidate at the Department of Transport & Planning. Her research interests are using Virtual Reality to study pedestrian behaviour. The research objective is combining both methods and technology from pedestrian behaviour research and VR & AR to determine to what extent VR & AR technologies can be used to study pedestrian behaviour.

I've always been interested in the combination between design & technology. I started using VR after a pilot course during my bachelor, in 2016. In 2017, I joined the VR-Zone team and have been working with them since. My main field of interest is the application of VR in architecture and the built environment. I started my own company to focus more on design with VR, and specifically the use of VR in Co-design.

For my graduation from Industrial Design at the TU Delft I wanted to push myself and push people's perceptions. So I built a tool about augmenting people's realities using multiple senses, tested the tool with two real life use cases, took one of those cases and build a working demo in Unity, and then validated the results of using the tool by showing that user perceptions were affected by a statistically significant amount!
